Sierra Leone continues to experience the Hamatten season and dry winds forsters an enabling environment to promote major fire accidents in some parts of the country.
Early this week we received reports from Danadabu in Pujehun district, Bompilia in Bonthe district and Rogbenk in Port Loko district totaling 1550 affect persons. New reports of fire reaching the SLRCS hotline today indicates that Blama Gbanie village in Bo district have 150 affected victims of fire and Moyamba district presently undergoing a rapid assessment for another fire disaster incident.
In another development, a house in central Freetown was raised to the ground by fire early this afternoon and an old woman lost her life in the fire. SLRCS volunteers evacuated the corps to the central morgue
