DMIS: Macedonia – Floods : Floods in FRYM

Brief description of the situation
One person has been killed after flooding engulfed parts of Macedonia. The flooding was triggered by days of heavy rain, which has been heaviest in the north and east of the country. Hundreds of residents had to be evacuated from their homes, as the waters rose. Power cuts affected tens of thousands of people. The man who died was swept away as he tried to cross a river near the northern town of Kumanovo. The fast flowing rivers also destroyed bridges, which completely cut off a village. DMIS: Serbia – Floods

Brief description of the situation
After heavy rainfall accompanied with hail and thunder, which on Monday, February 25, late afternoon affected Bujanovac, Vranje, Trgovište and the wider environment, at night and on Tuesday, February 26 flash floods hit Bujanovac municipality (part of city New settlement, villages Oslare, Levosoje and Rakovac), in Preševo (village Train Station), while in Vranje and in Trgovište caused a sudden increase in water levels in local rivers, without causing serious damages.
In Bujanovac, about 60 houses were flooded and evacuated about 100 people (more than twenty families), who are placed in homes of their friends or relatives. In Preševo was flooded about 50 homes, without evacuation of vulnerable families, while in Trgovište has declared an emergency situation.
Coordination between the Red Cross structures, local authorities and other disaster response subjects, carried out through the emergency bodies, while on higher level the Red Cross of Serbia and the State Emergency body have established regular exchange of information. Weiter →

Brief description of the situation

Three days of heavy rain have flooded hundreds of homes in eastern and central Macedonia, destroyed at least two bridges and cut off dozens of villages, causing power cuts and shortages of drinking water. The National Crisis Management Center said Tuesday that about 20,000 people were without electricity in the central town of Sveti Nikole, and thousands of hectares of cultivated fields were inundated. DMIS: Madagascar – Tropical cyclone : cyclone HARUNA

Brief description of the situation
The cloud mass in the Mozambique Channel becomes a cyclone and it is called “Haruna”. At 15:00 local time, its center is detected 200km northwest of Morombe. The spiral band accompanying causes rains accompanied by gusty winds in the regions of Boeny Melaky, Betsiboka Bongolava Menabe Atsimo-Andrefana Vatovavy-Fitovinany Atsimo-Atsinanana, Androy and Anosy.

As the preliminary report from North Sulawesi recorded, heavy rain in Manado the capital city of North Sulawesi since Saturday 16 February 2013. After heavy rain in Manado and nearby cities , the lake overflowed and huge of flood water swept at least 12 sub-district in Manado city. Thausand of houses submerged by th flood including hundred of houses collaps while many people identified has been killed trapped at their houses. DMIS: Indonesia – Floods : Flood in Jakarta Update V

Brief description of the situation

The flooding still occurred in several area in Jakarta and nearby due to heavy rainfall in around Jakarta, Bogor, Bekasi and Bandung. The effect of heavy rain caused many water levels in Katulampa, Manggarai, Krukut etc increasing rapidly. It’s also triggered flooding caused overflowing water in Ciliwung (main flow of the river nearly 120 km).

In Cikeas Rivers (28 km along river), the embankment as far as 50 meter collapsed and submerged residential near the river. the flooding carried out mud and other waste material has contaminated many well and environments around the community in the affected area. Weiter →
